Q: Assess the impact of increased access to electricity by isolated communities (4 marks)
A: Increased availability of electicity in remote communities has resulted in living in these areas becoming more viable and attractive. It has made these areas suitable for experimentation (such as testing nuclear weapons in the desert) and increases in technology in these areas has led to electrical supply in very remote places (such as outer space) becoming more viable.
This was my answer to question 30 of our half yearly physics exam. Yes, it is ridiculous and stupid. Have a good laugh now, because I’d like to take a paragraph or two to explain the justification for writing something so obviously stupid.
Firstly, it was the last question I attempted in the paper. In an hour-and-a-half exam, its quite a relief to see the end of the tunnel. I was sick of physics by that stage, and the modern exam that morning had most definitely shattered my motivation. I simply couldn’t be stuffed to take the time to think of a decent answer.
Secondly, it was a stupid question. Why on earth they would ask an assess question on such a tiny area of the topic is beyond me, and besides, we barely talked about this in class. No-one in the class got over 2 for this question, which emphasises the stupidity of this question.
Thirdly, I still got a mark for the answer.
So, meh. It was enjoyable, at the least, to see that answer again and think something along the lines of What the hell was I thinking?
